Hi all, i did a search but could not find exactly what i am looking for. I recently bought a VS 5 litre which has been lowered but im not sure what springs or shockers are in it! What is annoying me is how hard the ride is, every crack in the road or pot hole even if i drive over large stones my hole car rattles and bangs, what im wanting to know is can i change something to get a smoother less hard jolty ride? what do i need to change? and how much will it set me back? I like how low it sits so can i also change this without changing how low it sits? Thanks for your time.
smaller rims. believe it or not, the more side wall there is, the less harder it is. i know, its hard to grasp.
Shocks... you get people using lowered springs on crapped out old standard shocks, you will find a much better ride just replacing the shocks with some nice new ones - Prefferably of the 'shortened' variety to match the travel of the lowered suspension! Other than that and using a larger profile tyre and rim combination, It's the price you pay for lowered suspension, one of the joys of it are dodging those pot-holes, cracks and minor indiscrepancies in the road!
Power is measured in DECIBEL
If you have 17 inch rims or bigger you will feel every bump in the road. lowered suspesion will make it worse because your springs need to be stiffer than standard so your suspension wont bottom out.
"You need to do an entire package of Rims, Tires & pressure, Shocks, Springs & bushes. Your suspension works with all these. You really need to list all these so work out why your car is riding so harsh. You can lower a car and still have acceptable ride. I have a lowered VR that had 17" rims and the ride was very harsh. Changing the rims to 16" and appropriate rubber totally changed the drivability of the car. Yoiu need to look at your entire package.
cheers
