Hi Guys,
I went to start my dads car today which hasn't been used in about a month, and the battery seems to be completely and utterly flat. Now it's a newish battery and obviously something in the car is draining it. I tried to jump start it with my car but i'm not having any luck and it's just ticking.
Is there any chance the battery is still good or could it be screwed if it's been run dead flat? Is it worth getting a battery charger and/or jump starter from super cheap or autobarn?
Thanks,
Adam

I've managed to charge a HD battery back to life from being dead flat. Going strong several months down the track now so it's obviously doable.
Not sure why the car refused to start if you jumped it though... should have started up off a jump.
What sort of car is it?
It's a honda integra. The battery is only 6 months old. I finally jumped it after leaving the cars connected for about 20 min but after driving it for about 15 min it didn't charge whatsoever. I've taken it back to autobarn for them to try and charge it and if that doesn't work see if i can change it under warranty.

There are many reasons for the battery to run flat.
The car may not be charging properly. This could be anything from a loose fanbelt to the alternator itself. If the alternator is not charging you should get some warning light or low reading if you have a gauge.
If you don't have any low charging warning lights, the battery can still miss out on a charge if there is a problem with the wire from the alternator to the battery, it may be loose or worn.
Inside the car, be careful not to leave the lights on (pretty obvious) but also check that the interior light is not on, that the boot light goes out when the boot is closed and the same goes for a glove box light.
It is easy to test if a battery is cactus, Autobarn should do this for you.
