once i decide what kind of SS(vy/vz/ve) to buy i need to decide between auto or manual.
obviously id love a manual and would take one over an auto in a heartbeat. but good ones are quite hard to find. auto's on the other hand are pretty common and some of them are really good deals.
pros and cons?
Captain O'Hagan: I swear to God I'm going to pistol whip the next guy who says, " Shenanigans."
Mac: Hey Farva what's the name of that restaurant you like with all the goofy shit on the walls and the mozzarella sticks?
Farva: You mean Shenanigans?
each to there own, but i would never buy another auto aslong as my left arm and leg still work, i had an auto with the stupid flappy paddle gearbox, and that was boring as watching paint dry, so i can only imagine how boring a standard 4 speed auto would be.....
your deffently on the right track with the v8, so dont ruin it with the auto
I love my manual but unfortunately have to sell for an auto on account of my wife having a hip problem which makes her a bit sore changing gears. It doesn't bother me having an auto but the manuals are good fun.
If i went out and bought a new car i would want a manual feels like you have more control over the car and you wont get boded with it as fast but thats me lol
I bought an auto, mainly because manuals are as rare as hen's teeth for the VE SV6 on the used car market. I have always, except one car, owned a manual. I'm actually enjoying the automatic in the SV6, and while it's not for the purist, it sure makes around-town driving a hell of a lot easier.
If you want a manual dont settle for an auto because you wont be happy, if you need a car just buy a heap and keep looking for a good manual.
All personal preference, mate. I drive trucks at work all day, so when I knock off I just love jumping into the VY, selecting "drive", hitting cruise and just kicking back with radio or a cd on and not having to change gears again! Although in my younger days I had manuals.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
well my vy is a manual, and its great. like i said id take a manual over auto in a heartbeat. except most of them have way too many km, or are quite a bit more expensive.

I just converted my Auto to Manual.
Heaps better for driving tho obviously alot more work in stop start style traffic.
Car was auto when i bought it, but i had plans to convert it anyway.
Each to their own i say, Autos are for old people, hehe.
i would have bought a manual for my next car but i got a good deal on the one i have now and its a auto but if i had more time to look i would get a manual and if its a ss i wouldnt bother looking at autos
As has been said avoid the auto if you actual want a manua,l i made that mistake last year with an xr6 turbo i bought,i sold it 2 months after purely because it was an auto![]()
im getting an 09 ve ssv and there tons of nice cheap low km manual ones mate
as VYMAD said, its good just to get in ya car and put the music on, not having to worry bout playing with the gears. I used to do night shift. I could barely manage to stay awake driving my auto. drivings is not always about cruising and having fun.
I am a manual fan, ended up buying a VP auto cause VP manuals are just so hard to find, maybe a manual gearbox conversion might follow eventually.
If i was buying an SS i wouldnt settle for an auto, manuals are just to much fun. In the end search for and buy what you wany, if you want manual you will never be happy with an auto. Matt
