    Default First Defect

    Hello All,

Unfortunately, my VS Clubby got a defect in Morphett Vale yesterday. It was for tint too dark and exhaust too loud. He only put it on the form as a minor, but i still have been ordered to take the car to regency park.
My main worry is my twin throttle manifold. Has anybody had any luck getting cleared with one of these?
I have a custom air box made under the panel where the washer bottle usually is, and there has been two large holes cut for the air hoses to pas through, it has been done neatly. Is this going to pass, or an instant defect? My other worry is the fact that it is a non factory stroker with a fairly agresive cam.
How hard would it be to remove the manifold and chuck the banana's back on?

    cheers

Rip the tint off it chuck a big choking exhaust muffler on it that queitens it down.
They may not open the bonnet, they may just test for DB.

Never know if you queiten it down it just may pass.

They dont need to know it is a stroker so dont tell them. They will probably stick a probe up your exhaust to check emissions if it is obvious you have a big cam. Make sure your tyres are legal because sometimes they just look for an excuse to go right over your car.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Well, i failed miserably at regency today. When the guy popped open the bonnet, i could tell it was an immediate fail. Also had a crack in the rear sub frame (above the diff mount) but apparently this is rather common. So, i now have to remove my engine and put in a standard engine to get through regency. If i can work out why it wont let me post in the for sale section, i will be putting my engine, trickshift manifold and air intake/filters up for sale.

    Cheers.

Yeah the crack above your diff is common. I have the same issue with mine right now. Replacing it this week. You should too before it gets any worse.

Also, details of the delorean listed as your ride?

Pretty good now mate. Wheel sits a bit to the right now, but wont worry about that for the time being.

Hi stocky, Where abouts did you get the new cradle or subframe thingy? Was it expensive?

I imported the DeLorean from the United States, Sebastopol, California to be precise. I received it on my birthday in May which was pretty cool. Can't drive it as a left hook until it is 30y.o, which it will be this coming January, so until then i will not be seen on the road.

Hi Ace, yea they did list all of the repairs required, which were change engine back to stock, fix rear cradle and have SRS tested by holden as the dash light was not working. Went over it with a fine toothed comb!

I scored a whole rear end for $50 off ebay which was a bargain. As said, don't pay over $100 for one, and I welded a plate on top of mine to prevent any more cracks.
