alittle pricey, oh wait, its a manual. probably talk him town abit anyway. 175kw from memory, wont have the highout put 190. more than enough for someone of your/my driving experience. if your gonna take out a loan to get this, dont. well do if you want, its your financial future not mine! keep in mind about insurance side of things. a 14k car, being a commodore, isnt gonna have a high resale value, and you will be looking at probaby 1500 a year for insurance, if not more. its gonna cost more than you think

i was going to get a loan to get a good credit debt history, i have more then enough money to cover the costs off rego/insurance ect. which are the ones that put out 190 kw? i found one on carsales but its a 6 speed man, i was looking for a 5 speed.
and i was going to try talk him down to 12 as it is a commodore and there price for a resale is kinda over the top. but im not sure what i will do yet

It's a VY so it will be a 3.8 Ecotec V6, not 3.6 Alloytec so it would be 147Kw or there abouts.

i thought being a series 2 it might have an alloytec, more research required :P my mate got a VZ SV6 for 21 grand about a year ago. so shop around, and expand the your searching. keep in mind, the ecotec has been around a long time, and the alloytec not so long. so theres more chance of problems arising in the VZ-onwards

*as for the hothouse green one, still to much. dont forget its 7 years old.*

3.8L is the old Ecotec - cast iron pushrod V6, 147kw
3.6L is the latest generation V6 (same basic engine used in the current VE). All alloy, quad cam engine, the SV6 has variable cam timing and makes 190kw

Make up you're own decision, spend the money on what you want/prefer not what others suggest, maybe take a test drive of the same type of cars around you're area to get an idea of which you prefer.
That's the best thing you can do.

Car Prices - Search Car Prices & Values Online - Red Book you will find all your info... vs-vt had about 147kws vx-vy has i think 152kws something lik that. VZ sv6's hav about 190kws i think

Better of getting a VZ or VE, newer engine. Heaps more Go.
if you want to **** around, get a vs manual n put the rest of your money you got left over in it lmao. you'll have one tuff v6. (hav money to add some power, sound system, n maby a respray depending how you go with your money.

you'll never get your money back because its a car, remmber that!! in the long run a newer car is better, but after buying it you'll end up spending more money to get it how you like. SO you got somthing thinking to do.

he was asking what we thought. seeing as he hasnt had much experience. at the end of the day, he is going to get what he likes and what he wants, but theres no harm in doing some background work.

causeeeee the red one i picked out has like 40,000km;s and that one there has about 120,000 and its a grand more? i take in everyone's advise, i was just wondering what you guys thought, since you have alot more experience then i do
yeahs i was going to buy a sound system, muffler and decent mags. and maybe a nice sticker on the back window
that car would pre much be the fasted P Plate legal car wouldnt it? would prolly have to chuck a pod filter in there aswell.

Why are you so worried about the fastest one? I have seen first hand what fast cars do to inexperiences P-platers, its not pretty. Every commodore will have more than enough power to do the speed limit.

Pay cash and buy a cheaper one, i wanted to rush out and buy a nice car when i was young aswell. Getting a loan doesnt improve your credit rating. Having a bank account and pooring money into it and saving your arse off does. Banks see what you do and they watch your saving pattern, that improves your credit rating.

Buy a VS or something like posted above and fiddle with it.

If you do decide to get a newer car and get the loan hunt around and find a model/body shape that you like then find the one that is cheapest with service history and low km's.

120000km isnt very high for a commodore engine, my previous VP had 330000km on the clock and it didnt use a drop of oil and ran faultlessly. In that case the higher price is for the newer model. Matt

Pod filters are useless IMO, and are for boy racers who think it makes under the bonnet look fully sick. If your seriously interested in letting your engine breath better, get a CAI if if doesnt come with one, and just install a K&N or some other brand hi-flow panel filter.
If you want a bit better performance then put extracters AND a 2.5" exhaust system on (dont just put a 2.5" cat back exhaust on and think it will increase performance, cause it wont)
