    Default Dent Puller

does anyone know if those dent pullers from supercheap and the like are any good? i got a lot of minor ( 10c piece sized) dents al over my car and don't wanna pay a panel beater to do something i could do...i have 3 that are on my door which are accessable when i take the door trim off, but it's too hard to get to because part of the power windows motor is in the way..the dents are right below the door sorta thing half way down the door.

so yea, just wondering if anyone has had experience with them and what your thoughts are about them

    thanks everyone

I haven't used one personally, but I think they are the bridge-type pullers aren't they?

You could probably get them looking better, but chances are you won't get them out 100%, so if you are really fussy they will still annoy you even if others might not be able to pick them out.
If you are going to have a go yourself, make sure you use good glue and clean both the tabs and the panel with prepsol immediately before pulling. Make sure also that you have a nylon punch handy to tap them back down GENTLY when you inevitably pull them up too far.

Don't heat the panel up or anything silly like that because chances are you will end up pulling clear off with the glue.
Any dents that aren't perfectly round (like a crease opposed to a dent) probably won't come out very well, but you might get them looking better than they did before.

Most importantly, take your time and don't expect it to come out completely the first time. If you are getting impatient walk away and do something else for a while. Its impatience that will cause most of your stuff ups.

yea i dont expect anything to be perfect once it's damaged, i had part of my door pushed in, but it's in a bitch of a spot, i made the mistake of getting a hammer and bit of wood to belt it out, i got 2 spots to push back out to it's normal position, but then created a series of 3 dents in a row haha..i'll be putting up pictures as soon as i can just to show the size and where they are...they're mostly in the middle of panels, tailgate, side panel that runs along the tray, it's mostly the door im worried about though...gotta love prepsol..do you think supercheap or repco etc would sell that stuff, never actually noticed it in there haha, cheers mate

Prepsol is Wax and Greas remover. You should be able to get it anywhere. Most places have the K&H brand I think.

Keep in mind that a professional could probably get the dents as good as perfect, but it can be very difficult to fix up once you have had a go at it yourself. If you want perfect results find a local paintless dent repairer before giving it a crack yourself. Could be cheaper than you think as well

eh, i wouldn't so much worry about the paintless part of dent pulling, there's been paint and clearcoat that has come off where the major dent is...i'll have a look around and see what the prices are..i may have to get my whole door sprayed (shudders)....i might leave it untill i get more money and maybe do a whole repsray..being a white car is a bit boring..i wanna go something a little more out there, blue or red or something
