Hey its just about time to replace my battery and i was wondering what battery i should buy. I have had a supercharge gold in my old car which seemed pretty good. i have also heard good things about calcium king. i would rather not spend any more than $130.
Also i would prefer a sealed maintenance free battery
bond batterys are very good.

my geminis
Thanks mate any idea how many cca? and roughly how much they cost?
My last battery lasted five years, can't remember what brand though. Some batteries are made in the same factory and just have diffeerent stickers put on them. Pretty much you want to say to the battery bloke what you asked in your original post and he'll steer you in the right direction. If you're not happy with his response, then go to another place, etc. My last one cost me about $140, but I needed one there and then, so I just pulled into the nearest place and got a "reasonable" one.

optima d34
Exide, SuperCharge, Century, AC Delco, Bosch/Yuasa. All these are fairly good. There will be people who say one is better than the other and try to promote reasons why. Its hard to exactly say what battery is best for you. If you buy the biggest CCA in a good name brand like the one's listed, and get the longest warranty possible on that brand, and if you want, get maintenance free, then you should be fine. Obviously you are shopping to a budget and you will get what you pay for.
I don't think in normal circumstances an Optima or Odyssey battery is required.
Just go with one of the above and get the best for the money you have to spend.
calcium king is cheap shit imports. if you want a good maintenance free battery your going to need to spend a bit more than $130. spend the extra cash and get something like a exide extra X56C. 550cca, maintenance free and with a 3 year warranty. You should get a good 4 years out of one if you look after it.
plus is aussie made!
Yeah, I always use Century batteries, never had a problem with them, and they last a while.
Got a few amps running in my car, ran the battery flat a few times, and its still going strong. (It was the biggest battery there was for my car - apparently?!)
i would suggest a deka intimidator. its is the biggest battery you can fit, and they put around between 1000 and 1100cca when new. looking around $350
I'd reccomend the RAA batteries. Weve had one in ours for at least 5 years, running on periods of total depletion (alternator regulator stuffed for 2 years) and low water - powering a 300w amp and speakers and it still holds plenty of charge to pump the stereo for 2 hours and still start the car.
