    Angry Removing Surface scratches

Hi Guys, iv got a couple of smallish surface scratches on my red VZ.

I've tried the standard cut polish from super cheap, which helped a bit but didn't get rid of completely.

I'm just wonder is there a product out there which is tried and tested to do the job, or is it beyond saving?

It's no where near re-spray status, I just hate imperfections

    Hey mate,

It really depends on how deep your scratch is. If you run your finger nail against it and it gets caught in your finger nail then you won't be able to completely get rid of it. Best you can do is mask it. I tried almost everything under the sun to try and get my scratches out including stuff like Meguires Scratch X. Then I found some kitten cutting compound which worked absolutely amazing. Be careful with it tho, it is quite strong stuff. You can find this product at any Supercheap Auto store.
"Nonsense, this is the kind of coverings what we humans wear at this period of time. I'm quite sure of it."

yeah I tryed some of that kitten stuff and it is pretty strong, left like a cloudy area on my paint, So i had to 're-cut' with some liquid stuff to get rid of the cloudlyness.

Maybe ill just have to lump it.

    Thanks for your input

just read a few reviews on that Macguires Scratch X, wheres the best place to purchase it, can i buy online?

I mentions apply with a 'macguires microfibe cloth' is that necessary or an attempt to sell additional products. Would an old shirt or something like that do?

Get the ScratchX 2.0 - it's a big improvement and more agressive than the original.

And use a foam applicator pad to apply - they're only about $4 for a pack of two. Either that or apply with a microfibre towel or microfibre applicator pad for a bit of extra bite if you need it.

Failing that, try Meguiars Ultimate Compound - it's more aggressive again.

I take it you're working by hand, not machine?

A pic would help. The scratch might just be too deep to remove.

Foam applicator pad? can you buy them from a regular auto shop, like super cheap or something, will a house hold sponge do?

I will be working by hand yes, I dont have any pictures, its not visable from any more than 2 metres or so, its on the tailgate so i expect maybe its from someones belt when taking the cover off?

    Thanks for your advice

Better off using the foam applicator pad. Won't be too hard to find and yes most auto shops such as Supercheap stock them, Probably find they even have the ScratchX there to save another trip.

I use the Meguiar's foam applicator pads and my tube of scratchX has lasted five or six years as it's not used very often and only in small amounts. I've seen the 2.0 stuff but don't know what it's like as havn't tried it. But yeah if your finger nail can easily detect the scratch by "feel", then I doubt whether a scratch remover will get it out.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
