    Default Premium Or Not?

Just anybodys thoughts on using Premium Unleaded, is it worth it ? I have purchased a vy ss and the previous owner had always used premium, but i have since used standard unleaded. Do you really benefit much by using Premium

The VY is tuned for premium, so I would continue to use that.

I too only use premium, cleaner burning fuel and possibly slightly better economy. Yes that's right, next year it's either premium or that E10 crap..........

I just bought standard unleaded @ $1.19. Premium was $1.29 so $7.50 per 75l more. Over 12 months, $390 at 75 litres per week Thats half or more of my rego

Did you account for the extra kilometres which may result from higher octane fuel, plus some people don't drive their cars much and will not use 75 Litres a week, hence the difference may be much less also.

I will and always have used the best fuel possible. The extra amount of cost is nothing in the long run. I know alot of people who think the same as you, but then floor their cars out of the service station and obviously are not concerned with costs anyway.

My advise is always use the best fuel possible and drive normally and you will not find a huge difference in yearly running costs unless you do big kilometres per year eg company rep travelling state etc.

I too only use BP Ultimate but i just wanted to check if my car was tuned for it and if there where any gains apart from more k's and cleaner burning fuel and probably better for your engine.

Like Holdenonn said, there's a million threads on this already, but IMO if you care for your car and like your injectors to stay cleaner, possibly slightly more power/economy, then why wouldn't you run premium? I always run Caltex Vortex 95 and maybe 98 once or twice a year for the hell of it. But in 80,000 k's since I got the VY I have never run 91 or e10.
