Well ever since I got rear ended, and subsequently firmly pushed into the back of someone else (a decent bump to the front of my car) a few of my electrical systems have been failing.
These have been going in and out (sometimes they work, sometimes they don't)
Really weird, sometimes I can give a good kick to the front bar, or just drive on a bumpy road and they will turn back on, after they have been on. They stay working for most of the time but sometimes they just falter...
- Rear Demister (no light pops up, doesn't work)
- Heater/Aircon Fan
- Aircon (doesn't turn on, no light on the button)
This leads me to think that there may be some wiring knocked loose or something along those lines. Anyone got any ideas?
I'm seeing an Auto Elec sometime soon, any advice to give me so I can sort of point him in the right direction?
Any ideaaas???
The Shunt may have loosened many things just go over the main & interior fuse's, otherwise it sounds like the connections behind the dash buttons themselves, use a multimeter or test lamp to test them. It only takes a screwdriver to pull the dash forward to get behind to the connections.Try urself B4u pay someone is my motto..good luck
A few things to check....the main earth stud tightness located a little forward of the fuses under the bonnet on the inner guard...... for a broken lug or loose terminal....next is the spade lugs that go on the bottom of the fuseable links located between the fuses and battery under the bonnet check to make sure they are pushed on and tight...there are a couple of large red wires with spade lugs that may be not tight that could do this.
This is my vr that I rebuilt ....CLICK HERE to see my vr on Cardomain

Thanks for the suggestions. Though the fuseable links and the main earth stud are both screwed tightly and all connections secure...
Any other ideas?
No one can suggest anything else that would cause an intermittent problem such as this?
dont those three things use the same fuse or relay? has to be something in common, tried swapping fuses and relays?
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
I would assume they would. I have looked at the fuses but I'll check them again. Any suggestions of which one it could/should be, I've checked the obvious ones but it could be tied in with something else?
Well you were right, thanks to fellow forum member Wamboin's help, the common relay is the 'LAMP CHECK RELAY' found in the fuse box in the engine bay. I pushed the relay back in properly when it wasn't working and it started working, so I'll get a new relay for it and get the fuse box checked out just to make sure that there isn't a short in there as well. At the same time get a new relay (for spare) and install my gauges.
