Think about it, in a RWD, RHD car the driver may not now have legs, certainly not be walking away.
I guess vtec kicked in....
Seriously though, I had an rx2 13bT pop a clutch, put holes everywhere...its scary with clutch pieces flying around inside the vehicle. Certainly made a few mods to prevent it happening again. I believe a couple of years back one of the Dyson boys popped a clutch at calder taking out someone watching.

I remember seeing a video of some retarded some some stupid rpm clutch dump, clutch or maybe flywheel didn't hold up and just disintegrated, took chucks out of the chassis, and even tore massive chunks out of those massive strong bars that run down the length of the vehicle. Also sent pieces through the cabin, how the retard didn't get hit is beyond me.

Something like this ... nasty damage
If computers have no doors or fences, who needs Windows and Gates?
Not surprising though, I mean the weight of a clutch spinning at say 6000rpm, that is a lot of energy.

That is awesome, the whole front end just goes bang!
I knew a drag racer who said that back around 20 odd years ago one of the drag cars lost a flywheel, this was in a RWD car, luckily it missed the driver and cut through the car instead. Ended up going through a nearby shed. No-one was hurt though.
i was at a wreckers many years ago chatting to old mate behind the counter, the story he was telling me may have been exaggerated but its somewhat relevant.
anyway, these lads are out the road one night playing up. some dingbat is holding his V8 kingy flat to the boards with the clutch in, people are slowly backing away not knowing whats going to happen. so this rocket scientist dumps the clutch and the majority of the flywheel flies out thru the side of the car and thru the guardrail on the side of the road, right at groin height, where one of these lads was standing not 10 seconds previously. apparently he went white as a ghost and was speechless pretty quick!
To bad the driver didn't cop it in the nuts, idiots like that don't need to breed any more.
I'm not sure how wide a flywheel is, but lets assume 30cm diameter, that means at 5000rpm, the outside of the flywheel is moving at 4712m/min, or 282km/h, that's a lot of speed, if it was rolling, it would cover a football field in 1.25 seconds, no surprise that when they let go, they do lots of damage.
