Default Are hotdog mufflers quieter than straight pipes?

I'm curious, would an exhaust be quieter if it had a hot dog muffler at the rear instead of no muffler at all? Looking for an easy way to reduce a bit of drone, and wondering if fitting a hotdog at the back on each pipe would help.

Hows this for an idea....If you have no useful info, STFU?

Mike, i reckon when i had a hot dog on the back of my VN, it actually droned more than with straight pipe. Sure, it was quieter outside the car (not a lot though) but it was considerably noisier in the cabin.

Resonators just stop a little bit of the ol' "Snap crackle and pop".

They don't really make it quiet.
