taking out mini spool..

hey guys, just wondering can you take out mini spools? I need to get a roadworthy and my vs already had one when i bought it. Is it possible or do i just need a new diff center?
Will the spider gears not mesh properly now?

Easier just to buy another diff and swap the whole thing over. Should be able to get one for $100, even cheaper if ya look hard enuf.
