Taking your car international temporarily

Hey all,

Now heres a question for you.

Lets say i wanted to take my commodore with me overseas for say 3 months and i were to be intending
to drive around europe, what are the cost associated with this inc time frames.
I know it would be vastly cheaper for me to just rent a car if needed but this thought has always been on my mind.

well it was around 2000 quid to send a car from england to OZ, so in aussie dollars roughly it'd prolly be roughly um 4.7k AUD, no idea what customs fees are like over there. id imagine their 17.5% VAT would come into play though. also, you wouldnt be able to just drive it, it'd have to go through MOT and you would have to pay tax and insurance.

every car has to be insured, or you face a fine and points off your licence, so being a holden, im guessing the insurers would have small fits about covering it. i think boat times was something like 6-8 weeks, but it was 5 or 6 years ago i looked into the UK last

it wouldnt be cheaper to rent, do what everyone else does. buy a 1000 quid peugot with MOT and tax and drive it till it pops you can drive in LHD countries as long as it has current plates
