I can't see any mention of the ignition switch so I will bring this up - have you ensured that the ECU/engine is getting power while cranking, as well as with the key in the 'on' position? The standard ignition switch setup on an HQ actually disconnects the positive feed from the ignition switch to a lot of components while cranking, if you have no spark or fuel perhaps you've used a feed that only operates at 'on' and not while cranking?

Can't be bothered reading the whole thread, have you bridged the resistor wire at the ignition switch?

If it already had a HEI before the conversion then the resistor wire would already have been done.

No, no i can't...It's all hidden and i'm not about to start pulling it apart to check it.....Sorry.
Also, i used a patch harness, fitted it and started the engine...![]()

Yes, as above - the HQ ignition switch has separate circuits for ON and CRANK positions, and if you wired everything up to the ON position (most likely scenario) it will be cutting power to everything important while you CRANK it.

Yes, the yellow one is the CRANK feed and does not connect to the ON feed from factory. You want them to be connected, so bridge the wires as above.

16183082 vr manual ecu rare as hell hard to find one will run vn tune no worries mate they are basically the same ecu.if the hall effect sensor wasnt triggering the module thats your problem not the ecu
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Yep I reckon that dealers must have used the later ECU as a replacement part, my otherwise completely stock VN series 1 came with a 16206305, very handy when it comes to datalogging
