Hey guys, got my VS commo about to run out of rego, however I have another car available to me to drive for the next 6 weeks so I was thinking I'll let the commo run out of rego. Once I need it again, is as simple as buying new rego and being on my way?
Cheers, Matt
Hi MAtt,
Any car in SA that runs out of rego can simply be re-registered at any time, the rego office will send out after 1 month of expiry date a letter stating that you should dispose of the number plates if this car has been written off, but you can ignore this. All you will have to do is simply re-register it either online / or at the Rego office, you will just have to pay a small fee to start the new 3months/6months/9months from that day onwards.
Hope this makes sence.
Thanks
Might want to phone up and tell them that your planning on letting the rego lapse.
I do the same thing with my old land rover as I only use it maybe 3 months of the the year I swapped it over to seasonal rego.
Stops them from trying to take your plates away.
Damm my slow typing!!!
there isn't any need to ring them, I have my 1977 Caprice off the road for 9months a year, only bring it out in summer, I just re-register it online and off for another cruise.
Cheeers.... and critical jim, too slow mate (only stirrrrring) lol.
Cheers for that guys, I'm looking at roughly $330 or something for 6 months as it is, does anyone know the charge to get her up and running again? perhaps I should just phone service SA up for a chat.
Thanks again, Matt
