i'd like to do a manual conversion on my vs series II calais, and have found a cheap conversion kit, but its out of a vr i've been told. dont know much about the wiring part of things. assuming i can find a manual vs ecu, would i have to change the wiring loom? if so what does this involve? cheers
I ran my VR T5 gearbox on the VS ecu/loom for a year before i got the proper loom. The thing is you'll have to separately wire up the speedo sender. The auto ECU will also not be reading the manual speedo pulse, so you'll have problems with stalling when coming to a stop. The reason for this is when coming to stop, the manual ECU will normally prepare to go to the idle tables, of course since the auto ECU isn't capable it will often stall unless you blip the throttle. You can make the best of this by getting a memcal made up that adjusts the tune at idle to stop it stalling.
Manual gear for commodores aren't terribly common. Good luck with it.
