BA Falcon One Tonner 16.78@82mph???
Guys,
Having no choice in matter, i have a ba one tonner for a company car. I thought it should do all right over the quarter, 180kw, ute etc, (auto) ya know fords fans raving on bout barra 6 being smooth powerful, 24valve, blah, blah, anyhow, hooked it up to g tech - lo and behold 16.78@82mph 1/4mile. how sad is it that xr6 base model BA has same engine as standard falcon!!! BA engine in standard form is totally dead. Feels like 110 holden KW's!!
note, ba one tonner is well serviced with 25,000 on clock. test was accurate, g tech leveled out etc. has anyone had a similar experience?

My stock VX V6 A4 should do about that.
I drove a brand new BA XT the other day, lots of power but still felt like a Taxi.

I wouldn't be suprised if the BAs only got 16s. Like Holden saying VN V6 factory could do 0-100 in 8 seconds. I think the manufacturer's must strip the cars or something when they do their tests.
I have mates who test driven the XR6 sedans, and reckon their VPs go harder.
But then again, maybe your company ute may have a dud engine in it too.

I personally think theres a difference between a car going harder and a car being faster.
I mean. I could go from my mates old gemini, lumpy little piece of crap, no sound insulation, noisey to the max, rough as guts on the power band.. To my old vl, pretty smooth, fairly quiet..
And I could say his felt faster. But in comparison it was basically the same..

That is the biggest bit of cods wallop I've ever heard. We lined up a 90,000 km vp in top nick and a 12 month old BA sedan with 25,000 km and it killed the VN no questions asked. The VP could only keep up with it up to 50 km after that see ya later.

this is interesting.....
i decided to drag one of my mates the other day, he owns a VS clubsport. I expected to cop a flogging as i've only got a BA futura. It was really funny, i beat him by a car length....so much for holdens finest.
He didnt have a dud run down the 1/4 mile either, as he raced an XT falcon next and got beaten.
Then he raced an AU1 XR8, he got beaten again, this time by about 3 car lengths.
Wat surprizes me is that this Clubby has really been looked after, not a mark on it, low kms, runs really smooth.
i thought that this was interesting and that i should share this with all holden people

Nothing beats old technology. I used to have a chrysler 360 motor in a charger with the motor on its way out after 26 years since rebuild,It ran 13.8 quartermile at 98mph with the g tech.

Satos, I dragged a 360 chrysler with and he had about 6 lengths on me by 160 but his quarter that night was 13.6 while my old 351 with 2.92 and fairlane body a flat 15, although my timing was out and his terminal speed was only 6 miles quicker.

Jim, many many VN V6's can do 8 flat 0-100 or better, I've found so many fast ones around here now, some with extactors and good breathing are nearer to 7 flat

BA auto's stock will do 15.6-15.8 at willowbank all night long stock.
BA manuals i have seen an XR6 run a 15.1 stock as well. (XR6 get 3.45 diff over the std 3.23 in the XT)
VN-VY feel faster but only in first gear as they have a very short ratio in first after 60kmh you will be seeing the tail end of ANY BA as torque is the big factor that the I6 has over the V6 and has tonn's of it as well from 3200rpm onwards.
