i dont mind them, had a set on my old 308 hq and never got sick of the noise, some cops dont like them much though.

i've heard that gear drives can transfer vibration/harmonics from the crank to the valvetrain, unlike a timing chain where the chain soaks them up. wether its true or not i dunno

4 banger turbos with bov's will just cry when they hear it, because they can never have it.

That's true, in severe cases it can even cause spark scatter, because the cam transfers the harmonics/vibrations to the distributor.

I've found them to cause more harm than good mostly.

So. if thats true on what you are saying then i won't get them then... If they do that much damage to the engine, cause I've just spent a couple of grand on the motor. Cheers Jason

A double row timing chain is more than enough to handle just about all the horsepower you can muster from a 308/304, single row chains were known to fail (Brocky found this out the hard way) but doubles came standard on all 304 block engines and are all you'll ever need. If the motor is old just replace the chain with a rollmaster double row to negate the stretch in the old chain.

I've pulled apart a fair few 308's and 253's and so far haven't come across one with a single row chain?? They've all had doubles. Do ya know for sure they come out with singles?
