At the moment i am trying to sell the parents car so any pointers as such to help sell the car?
Things like making the car shiny or over advertising by a small amount so you can be prepaired to come down on the price and make the buyer believe there getting a bargain
    Any tips or tricks Discuss

always add a bit more on in the hope that people will drop a bit. In my experience if you put something like $1100 on a car they'll round down to the nearest 'good' number and offer you $1000. The higher the price the more acceptable it is to try and knock more off.

Besides a good clean inside and out, getting smells out (if it's a smokers car then plenty of people will walk away) and making sure it's as close to RWC as possible there's not a great deal you should do apart from being honest. If honesty in its entirety isn't your thing then point out a couple of things that you think you need work (pissy things like a blown globe or small scratch on the duco) and people will think you are honest and not go looking for the crack in the head or rust you managed to hid in behind the boot lining.

I see someone on here bragging about doing a skid in their driveway so some bogan will probably suggest knocking a few k's off the odometer.

    Marky.

dont ever sell it dirty.. inside or out. as it makes you look like a disrespectful person and also looks like you dont give a crap about the car.. even though you could quite possibly have had it serviced every 5000 ms etc.
shiny is good but dont over do it as it looks like you are trying too hard ?

if you have somebody coming to inspect it make sure you warm up the engine prior to them coming so it runs all good when they come also make sure the fluid levels OIL is topped up.

these are reasons i havent bought cars before so i guess its something to consider. especially the no oil.. so many cars i have looked up have no oil and the excuse is always "i filled it up last week" but i always come back with "so you car uses a shitload of oil"

when test driving dont let young people take it by them selves as this happened to me when i sold a magna and he crashed it.. still bought the car.. then it blew up on him on the way home because the crash pierced the radiator.. and he ended up scrapping it i think.

whilst warming it up before hand is a valid point, someone buying a car who knows there stuff will always rest there hand on the bonnet first to see if it is warm, this way if its not and the car cranks over first time cold you know that chances are the engine is tight.

If advertising on the net photos photos photos! After cleaning the shit out of it take some really nice, in focus shots from all angles. Something a suprising amount of people dont do!

in saying this. my old pagero when it was cold would always start within half a crank without fail.
when it was hot it would turnover for quite a bit before starting as it used to run really lean.

Take photos around sunset in an industrial estate or something. Then when it comes to people looking at the car try to do it around sunset aswell as imperfections dont show up as bad on paintwork or dints and things. when somebody cannot fault the car the they will be much more impressed. you can always tell somebody too that you have already had offers but youre not happy to let it go for the price they offered. if they call your bluff just say youll ring the other buyer and come back with some story like they ended up buying another car anyway or something.

this works, tried it a few times. its not completely dodgy if you say it has the odd mark or 2 to begin with. The thing is nowdays you get people that bring a torch which if its a good torch shows up the imperfections better than normal light. Also sometimes people cant get out in time to see it in the daylight, last car i sold the bloke ended up coming late & didnt see the car till 8pm at night. As for the price thingy, thats not too bad either,if the buyer really wants it they will pay what your asking,as long as you know in your own mind how good the car is & you know that whatever the price is its a good deal. Thats where when you advertise it say its advertised elsewhere,so the potential buyers know there will be more than one interested person in the vehicle

Lol, the fella who bought my VX was a funny one. Young kid came with his family. I advertised the car for $8000 in one ad and after a few weeks dropped to $7000 (but didnt update some of the online ads as I couldnt be stuffed). This kid came over, saw the car and said he'd take it. I asked if he wanted a drive first and he said 'oh... yeh....'. So he got in, literally drove around the block and said 'I'll take it'. He asked if he could get it for $7000 (so he must have seen the $8000 ad). I said 'I gotta check with my wife'. Went in the house, said to my wife 'We got a sale... lets see if I can get more then $7000'. He ended up paying $7500. Easiest sale I ever made on a car.

Had a similar thing with a vx clubsport frt bumper. I had it advertised for sale for 400 bucks but decided to keep it,i removed all the for sale listings but musta forgot 1or 2. A bloke rang me up about the bumper & i told him sorry, its not available anymore but i might be able to get hold of one if he really needs it & i'll let him know. I thought about it for a bit then rang him up the next day & said i can get one for 900 bucks just to see what he would say. Surprisingly he agreed to the price & picked it up that day Funnier still is the bumper only cost me 80 bucks
