On my Vn The rear tiers are now 100% bold With no grove (it's ok im going to drive it)
Just wondering how much tier is left once all the groves are gone and its flat? Don't want a blow out going to the tier shop
Also what are the stocks size for the vx commodore (Might replace them too)
If i were you buddy.. I'd get a lift with a mate to the Tyre shop.. or have your car tow trucked there..( or at least DONT drive the VN lol)
If it has no groove its hard to say when it will shit itself, but it would be soon.. and you could potentially kill someone if the Tyre should blow.
Not worth the risk.. Plus, if a cop catches you.. it's a defect, not a nice fine to have
You can ring up the tyre shop asking about stock size for the vx' too .
Yeah maby I'll just jack the car up and take em off
I don't see the canvass yet
you would be ok driving to the tyre shop as long as the canvass isnt hanging out but i wouldnt make a habit of driving everywhere like that
it goes....
treaded->bald->canvas->wire->broken wires hanging out->burst tyre shell->bare rims->unsafe
Wait for the steel, then hit the roads in the wet, get them sparks mayne, ohhh yeah hahahahah
Canvas is fine to be showing on a front tyre going through the Black Spur. Many people from the Vic chapter will atest to this.
As for rears...this is too far:
Camber wear on the VT

If you put a matchstik inside the tyre and you can see some of the red bit, then it's deemed to be illegal. Those were the old days of telling, nowadays they have a notch in there, and once you hit that, then i wouldn't bother, coz all you have to do is piss off a cop and he will book you for those tyres.
Jack the car up, take them off and take them in yourself. Better safe than sorry dude
Follow Your Dreams......RIP Brocky 1945 - 2006......May God Rest Your Soul
Too late Tock em in tier shop had a lol @ them
Wtb better p plate laws
It's that bit there that concerns me.
You're saying it's ok if you drive it?
Normally when I'd do an intercept on a car with some sort of severe roadworthy issue I'd exercise my discretion and just go with a defect. However in your case I'd also hit you with a ticket for use an unsafe vehicle.
Take the advice already given and get it back up to standard ASAP. There's plenty of easy and cheap options available to you. It doesn't involve you having to go and spend thousands on the latest performance tyres. A set of second hand or retreads will do. If you go out with those things and hit slick or wet patch, it could be all over for yourself as well as anyone else on board.
i hear what your saying VicCop but since the OP seems to be from the Y (disposable) generation i somehow dont have any faith you'll be getting through to him...and may god bless us all...
ahh, another old codger with the gen y gripe... YAY!!!!!!
sorry to say, but theres plenty of gen x morons getting around with the same "its ok ill still drive it" mentality. i install stereos and such on lots of unroadworthy cars, and they're not restricted to generation y owners. many are older people driving shitters but want to install a cd player with a wireless, so they can listen to abc on am radio.
