    Default CG-LOCK seatbelt locker

    hi all,

anybody had experience with a cg-lock for their lap-sash seatbelts? it looks like it could be a good thing to hold you in instead of a harness.

it looks like something that locks off the belt so it cant extend and retract.

    CG Lock

    thoughts?

i could see it doing something though, especially with unsupportive vs commodore seats.

tonnes of jap cars arrive with them fitted. i put them in the bin.

is that the clip thing that goes up near the shoulder harness. you tug the seatbelt till it locks then slide that thing up to it to lock the belts position.

lemmie put it this way. sudden pressure HURTS, the slack in the seatbelt you would get with that lock (even just a teensie bit, say 80mm) will be enough to dislocate your shoulder or break your neck if you slide sideways in a prang, whereas the friction from your belt rubbing on your clothing will absorb a lot of the tension b4 the belt locks, so there wont be 'free play'. i would rather use a harness on track and an unsupportive belt on the road, than something that messes with the belts locking characteristics. you could end up in a world of hurt.

    gotta crash first though haha...

it just frustrates me when i'm going through some nice corners and i have to try and brace myself to stay in a good driving position. new drivers seat would probably be a help first. its especially bad on a fairly sudden direction change, which is never fun as theres a pretty technical section on one of my favorite roads which has a group of cambered, down/uphill corners which have direction changes when you're on the brakes and changing gear.

just one less thing to worry about would be good.

Don't be a cheap skate, get a harness. No track would recognise that stupid thing anyway.
