thats not really that fast, im surprised such a thing gets a mention in the news.

even worse, in our local paper there was an article about someone who got done doing 116 in a 100 zone. death to all.

16 K’s over in a 100 zone is a mortal sin and the perpetrators are far worse than drink drivers and must be 'named and shamed' as such.

considering australia is such a large country with such vast amounts of highways, You'd think that our limit was at least 120/130.
or keep it 100 like in most places now days with 20 points instead of 12..... come on as if i'd wanna drive in 5 years time (assuming they are looking at lowering 110 to 100) to Adelaide sitting @ 100 the whole way...

maby they should raise the speed limet to 130 for cars built after say 2000 as they are capable of this speed while being safe

and if they can have a limet for trucks why not older cars

Cars are getting safer but nothing can guarentee you wont blow a tyre at high speeds. Higher the speed, the worse the effects of a blown tyre. For that reason, i cant see the speed limits raised anytime soon, new or old car!

Was in europe a few months ago. In Croatia for example, the speed limits are mostly 130km/h on freeways/hwys. But you have a 30km/h leeway, which means most people travel at 160km/h, you won't get booked doing this speed. But the MOMENT you go over 160km/h you get a pretty hefty fine, that way there are no excuses. Germany has many unlimited freeways, I was doing 270km/h at some points in the C class I was driving, and there were still cars flogging it past me at 300km/h easy.

Cars and roads can be 100% safe. Until you take out the moron behind the wheel, crashes will happen (hopefully into pedestrians who don't look both ways before crossing the road )

Are you talking about me?? My point is that tyres are the factor that will not allow the speed limit to be raised anytime soon. Not saying i agree or disagree with anything but thats what i think will slow down any speed limit changes
