Holden's KISS approach to V8's rocks the blue oval
I've already made it clear that I'm not to fond of either but I must admit you boys have screwed the boys in blue up the clacker. Some of the boys on the ford forums can't stop pulling themselves over the new BOSS motor which in my view the biggest, useless over stroked boat anchor I've ever seen!
Whats the use of quad cams and four valves per cylinders when you get out gunned by almost any GEN3, a simple 16 valve pushrod V8. To make matters worse thye GEN3 has better fuel economy and heaps lighter (probably one of its flaws) which helps handling.
The other day we were trying to find a way of out doing the rampaging HSV products. The only thing that we came up with was forced induction. The BOSS 5.4 motor (4.6 L mustang block) is already stroked so increasing the capacity that way isn't an option.

Stuff BOSS V8, get an Xr6T now thats a rocket with excellent potential!
Yeah but the XR6T's are just boosted right up to pull good numbers ,even XR6's with 260rwkw get flogged at the strip by my little 237rwkw. Point is how many of these T's running 18PSI with stock internals will stand the test of time ? Not many IMHO
Nothing wrong with the robust 'CAST IRON' straight six creams buick V6 in straight line when you got a manual behind them. I must admit though their a bit long in the tooth and heavy.
Even though I'm 90% sure Holden stole this engine from somebody else. Back when I started looking into it there was some fairly identical engines with the same power and stats.
OLS108, you'd be suprised at how many are running stock internals - The 395 kw option has no internal mods at all. Where as the upgrade from that is 450 kw. At the engine of course.
And they're running 10's - I'm sure these cars would be running internals. But 10's - And its very very early days. The times are only going to keep dropping.
