Alrighty First up it's a daily. Thats it. It's cheap. It good in Traffic and doesn't take a dumb of coolant by the time i get to work.
Kinlon Motorcycles Australia
I bought it brand new on road for $1800 a few weeks ago but never got a book and couldn't be arsed chasing it up and it has reached it first service point of 1000k's
It needs it first service, what should i be looking at:
Oil, Plugs and Filter, Fork Oil?? What else should i be looking for.
Anyone have any Recommendations on the best oil to use, Also for chain lube whats the best?
Much help would be appreciated.
Okay, being a road trail, i'd say run Bel-ray or Motil 10-40 semi synthetic oil, For motul either the 5100 or the 3100 would be fine.
Bel Ray just use the standard EXP one.
For a first service i'd be looking at:
Oil
Oil Filter
Cleaning air filter
That's basically it. Fork oil is a rare thing to change, unless you pop a seal.
As for chain lubes you can use the same exact brands i said, Motul or Belray.
Belray is a white spray on and it's abit more sticky so it stays on
Motul is clear and doesn't make a mess but it doesn't stick on as much.
Just to let you know as of now, I would oil your chain every week, and everytime it gets wet after it drys. You don't want to result in a broken chain, especially when it's a brand like that the chain won't be anything like RK or DID chains.
If there's anything else let me know, I work at a Peter Stevens Motorcycles which holds all this stuff but i don't thing there's one up in QLD.
I would have thought that maybe 20-50 oil would be better?
All depends on engine size, how many cylinders, and ofcourse how you ride it. Thicker isn't always better.
All Road trails i've always gone with 10-40, motorcrossers and 10-40 aswell.
You could possibly go 10-50, or you could try 20-50. Trying won't hurt it, but you'll notice the difference between each (engine noise, how fast the oil gets eaten, how fast it needs changing etc)
It's only 1 Cylinder but i think. I THINK. the same oil lubes the gearbox as well
I would change the oil and filter, oil the chain and check for loose bolts. It wouldnt hurt to check the valve clearances as well. Some people say you need to put locktite on all the bolts to stop them shaking loose on the cheap chinese bikes.
Yeah exactly, still the same oil in a 4 stroke.
Make sure you get a dedicated motorcycle oil or if you have to use car oil, SF grade or lower. The friction modifiers in car oil make the clutch slip as it is a wet clutch runs in the oil. Having said that, some people never have problems with any car oil in a motorbike.
Synthetic oil will generally last longer than mineral, but is dearer as well. To be safe, use what ever is recommended in the owners manual.
yeah i'd go over it all looking for things that are loose, especially rear sprocket bolts. you dont want them coming loose or it will flog out the holes in your hub and you'll never get it tight again.
DDR, i was pretty certain there was a PS in QLD somewhere. which PS do you work at?
