Hey everyone .
Installed some hybrid roller rockers that I got off i blown
Everything looked like how it was supposed to go . Read the how to on here . Didn't have a touque wrench so just did them up tight
Kicked the engine over and it made a horrible ticking noise
Thought that I would take it for a drive . And Had no power at all and it sounded like something way banging hardcore under the engine
So I limped it home .
Any ideas what I have done wrong ???
i'd say you have to use a torque wrench, could be it.
there was also something that can break because of the high ratio rockers.... but i forgot what.....
they quite often tick untill the lifters sort themselves out and extend further than they have been running they stick in the postion they have spent there life at
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
oh yucky covers off time sounds like they are maybe hitting the rocker covers or worse take the passenger one off and look for contact marks on the covers.

hmm ok ,
so far ive got
1. not tightened properly (most likely , i didnt have a tourqe wrench)
2. hitting rocker covers (maybe , but i brought these off iBlown nad he has the same car as me , vs commodore )
3. on 5 cylinders not to sure didnt really sounds like its on 5
will have to check in the morning its way to dark to go out side
Ok today i took a fair look at whats going on
and found out its the push rods that are like hitting the metal thing that lines up the rockers , so i think ill have to get the smaller push rods or what ever
I think its because the new rockers tilt more then the old ones did thats why they are like hitting it hardcore
But yeh put the old rockers back on and there was no rubbing at all ,All tourqed up to the corrent load (11NM) , so this is deffently my case here .FROM F.I.T WEBSITE
Stock Ecotec and Super6 Pushrods are 11/32"s in Diameter and these work 100% fine with 1.9 High Ratio Rockers.
When fitting the 1.95's and 1.97's Ratio's we recommend 5/16"s Diameter Pushrods.
This is not due to any strength or reliability concerns of the standard pushrods, they are and have been fine on many cars with the FIT 1.97's and never had any issues or problems.
Where the 5/16"s Pushrods become a recommendation is in engines with a bit more casting overhang in the pushrod recess in the head area. There is no way of telling in advance whether you have more or less overhang than other engines until you take the rocker covers off, install the 1.95's or 1.97's and check to see if you have clearance with the stock pushrods.
90% of Engines will be fine with Stock 11/32" Diameter Pushrods, although for the remainder the stock pushrods may rub.
We Strongly Recommend Purchasing 5/16"s Pushrods ($120) at the same time as purchasing the 1.95's or 1.97's as then you have them available at the time of installation to install if you need them, rather than realising you need them, ordering them and waiting 2-3days for them to arrive with your car out of action for that time.
Having the 5/16"s Pushrods ready and available at your fingertips at time of installation makes life easy.
If it turns out you are one of the 90% who don't require the 5/16"s pushrods for extra clearance then you can send them straight back to FIT for a full refund.
Specifications: The 5/16" Pushrods are Made of Chromoly and have a 0.80" wall thickness, so they equate to being 3 x stronger than the stock items. They are very, very simple to install, taking literally all of about 2 mins whilst you have the rockers off.
The FIT Upgraded Pushrods are:
Improved .080" Wall Thickness
Made of Chromoly which is 3 times stronger than regular steel
Stock Pushrods are:
Standard 0.60" Wall Thickness
Made of Standard Case hardened steel
ahwell ill just have to wait till i get the new push rods lol
Yeah, for VY's i was going to say we need shorter push rods, but didn't know they did for VS
I never used them in my car, i used the stock ones.
They never made any noise when i put them in so i assumed yours would be the same. Sorry mate. I feel bad now.
Steve from Mace sells them.
HOLD THE PRESS! I just had a thought. What if the cradles are different to accomodate the tighter pivot point on the rockers? Ive just gone out to the garage and found the rocker cradles for the 1.97's are different. They have deeper slots where the push rods go past.
Dont buy the smaller pushrods yet, i'll send the cradles out on monday via courier again. Sorry mate. I didnt realize.
Jeez the pushrods must have been hard to get in the cup of the rockers though?
Yeh that might be the cause cos they were no where near fitting like even lined up straight the push rods were like touching still .
Thanks soo much man hopefully this is the fix haha
Once again your a champ
Update
yeh it was the cradles/ holder things that were causing the problems
Differance between stock and the other ones

Shit yeah massive difference. At least it was an easy fix!
