lets say i got caught driving my dads VT SS, 5L V8.. (just as an example) if i got caught, what would be the consequences, i heard its different for all the states and i havent heard about SA's
cheers

you know what i was thinking this just yesterday, im not exactly sure what would happen if you got pulled over and they found out you were driving a v8, but if you got in some kind of car crash one of the first things they look at is the car and licenseing of the drivers, so if they seen your provisional license and you were driving a v8, you might be more accountable for the crash for driveing the wrong class of car for your license, also insurence mighten pay for the damages ect, and im not to sure how the s.a laws are differnt to n.s.w laws but from what i've heard its 3-6 months driving ban for driving a v8
My mate got pulled over by the cops, they did a random licence check and he has a VS SS, V8 5L and he was on his red Ps and the cops didnt even check or care.
My Licence - new_rule
loss of 3 points and a fine.
thanks guys
P platers only have 3 points dont they ?
if you lose those 3 points, does that mean you have no points and keep your license or lose your license once you have no points ?

in vic p platers have 5 points every year...and if you lose more than 12 over a 3
year period you lose ya license..or if ya lose all 5 in a years time ya lose ya license lol
as of the 7th of november this year i dont have 2 worry about all the p plater stuff as i get my full licensebut 1 thing that got me is when i was talking 2 a cop about this he said i can drive my vl because i had it registered in my name b4 the rules came out even tho its a v8 and i got my Ps way b4 the date of the new rules but my gf got her Ps b4 the date but she isnt allowed 2 drive v8s..... is it cause i had a v8 registered in my name? its just got me stumped :S

From the link I provided earlier.
High-powered vehicle restrictions do not apply:
:when you turn 25 years of age
:if you had your P1 or P2 licence before 4 September 2010.
That is the rule for S.A
Each state will have a rule that would be on their own website.
If you got your p's before the laws came in, then you're safe anyway. If not, then it'd be hefty. It would probably be the same fine and being caught with mods on your P plates (well in vic you're not aloud anything)
Doesn't affect me as i got my p's before september.![]()
Doesnt affect me, got p2's on 1st sept, this year.....
My licence has a condition on it (just says '01') where my girlfriends doesnt? anyone know why? just curious.
Nah just at the top right corner of the photo - 01 is printed.
See photo below:

okat then i have no idea what it means exactly, but its written right under conditions, which might mean you can only drive auto/or it means you can drive both, mabey yours are differnt because you have a manual license and she has only an auto licence?
there is no manual or auto licence, for cars they com in when u get truck licences.
also in sa u have 4 points on P"S and when u lose all 4 u lose yr licence, basicly do anything wrong and kiss yr licence gd bye (most offences is 3 points, and then 1 for breaching p conditions) for 6-12 months. but when this happens u can apply to the courts to get 1 point bac if u have a legit reason to have yr licence. if u live in metro areas u have about 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000001% of getting a point bac cause there is public transport, in rural, u may be lucky and get 1 bac
My licence (as pictured above) is not bound to transmission type and i am not restricted from driving v8's or turbo's.
It's just weird that there is the 01 there under conditions, no one can explain it. May be a printing error. Oh well
I have done a bit of research on this topic as I am 21 on my P's and I MIGHT be losing my licence soonish, all depends on how court plays out. Anyway I made some phone calls to find out what happens if I lose my licence after the cut off date (4th sep) and I was told that when my licence is reissued the new laws will apply to me. However, the other day I received a letter saying that if I lose it after the date and then have it reissued the new laws will NOT apply but instead I won't be able to drive with anyone else in the car between 12 and 5am.
Common mistake - you don't have any demerit points until you gain them. So many think you lose points, you actually gain them for traffic infringements.
So if you are caught speeding for instance you can gain 3 demerit points. When you gain a certain amount you can lose your licence. For instance I can gain up to 12 demerit points before I lose my licence.
Hey mate i recently lost myne for gaining 4 demerits, and went onto the safe driver agreement.. which takes over the option to appeal it in courts.. unless it was a serious offense you shouldnt have a curfew for passengers and time... but you will definatly be on the new rules.. they count for ANY new provisional license after sept 4th
iv done a shite load of research into the topic
so whats the differnce exactly between having your licence before and after the 4th of september?
and yeah once you gain 4 points on your p's you lose your licence, and green p's is 7 points (n.s.w's)
Weird cause I said I got a letter from the transport department saying that new laws won't apply just the no driving with other people between 12 and 5. Oh well guess I will wait and see what happens. Well the safe driver agreement might be out of the question for me as I have already appealed to keep my licence due to previous offences.
I really need to do a fair bit more research on the topic anyway. Are there any extra conditions that apply to you now you have entered the safer driver agreement?
If you had your licence before the 4th of september the new laws don't apply to you as they can't really go tell a bunch of P-Platers that already own V8's or supercharged cars that they can't drive them anymore and have to buy a new car.so whats the differnce exactly between having your licence before and after the 4th of september?
