    Default Doing u-turn... mounted kerb.

So I was doing a u-turn in a street and hit the gas a bit too hard. I mounted the kerb and now my front left wheel is feeling a bit funny.

Feels like there's something out of whack and when I go 70km/h+ I start to get a shake in the steering.

Is this just a simple wheel alignment or am I looking at more?

I checked the rods and suspension.. they're not bent or anything. The wheel itself is further back than my front right wheel though, and on full lock (going left) you can hear it rubbing against the mudflap.

Anyone know how much this is going to set me back?

Bent strut, maybe. Not too expensive.

How hard did you whack the kerb?

Could be a bent strut, bent tower, bent K-Frame (though you would need to pot a fair bit of effort in to do this) or a bent control arm.

How bad is the shake in the steering?

Do you get any chunks turning the wheels from lock to lock?

Could be a buggered control are ball joint.

I'd also say if you managed to hit it hard enough to move the wheel back then the wheel is probably buckled a bit too.

How bad is the shake in the steering? Not so bad, at higher speeds (80+) it shakes slightly

Do you get any chunks turning the wheels from lock to lock? When on full left lock there is a rubbing noise where the tyre is hitting the mudflap, or where the mudflap used to be because I removed it.

I'm going to get a wheel balance, front wheel alignment and brake check (for $50!) tomorrow so maybe there will be more answers then.

Yeah, probably your best bet, then you'll know exactly what the issue is rather than having people blindly guessing.

    Good luck.

Fixing it probably wont be too expensive... But the Driving lessons I suggest you take might be.

I hit the back end of my ute into a gutter, cracked the rim and everything, ended up shattering the wheel bearing.

As for what's coming from you, it wouldn't be something to do with the tyre/rim but whatever is holding it itself. You'd better hope it's not the K-Frame otherwise you'd be up for a hefty amount.

But if it's a shocker or Control arm, it'll be expensive just no-where near as much

getting an alignment will tell how ####ed the car is. ask them to set the front to the max settings for camber, caster and toe. this way, you ll be able to compare the differences between the LHS and RHS. then get them to set it back to stock settings.

lower control arm is probably bent and maybe the tie rod and caster rod.
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.
