well my future plans for my vt s pac is to either do a complete engine swap ls1 or ls2 or supercharge it. im looking at getting 300kw (engine not at the wheels). what you guys think would be the better option?
if its currently a v6 i would buy a bolt on charger or swap the hole thing for a good L67.
Check out my ride here >>>>My VX Raptor
say NO to chev badges
Wanted To Buy=>> Mace 12mm or 25mm Manifold spacers - VX SS Headlights - VY handbrake complete set up
For Sale=>> vt/vx Berlina/Calais chrome window surround PM me for more details
The 6 will be working very hard, 300kw it near as makes no difference double the standard output.
If you swap it out for any LS series engine you have far more potential and the engine will last longer
due to is not working as hard. LS FTW!![]()

LOL, bullshit. My L67 makes about 270kw at the engine, it's only intercooled so it's far from working hard....Doing a cam swap now, should make near on 300kw now. There is obviously more power potential with an LS1 but 270-300kw is about the norm for a good modded L67.
i don't know what to do. its either mod my vt which is in perfect nick no problems under 100kms or save and sell for a newer ss commy.
12 PSI in the manifold. Hardly big boost....It's copped a fair hiding in the 5 odd years it's been cooled, never missed a beat.
ok what you guys reckon the smarter thing is to do. do up the looks of how i want my vt and in a year and a half round about, when i get my fulls, il by a vx ss an swap all the visual upgrades i did to my vt and sell my vt as stock with stock bumpers and so forth? you guys reckon that'd be better then doing a engine swap once im off my green's?
im just heaps attached to my car cause its been perfect. perfect nick havnt had a problem with it at all

He was talking about charging his N/A ecotec, and if I'm not mistaken aren't there differences between the two engines?
All I'm saying is that there will be a 100% increase in power through the same engine, relax, it was just my 2 cents
it just seems smarter to transplant an LS, or is that just me?

The highly underestimated L67 would be my choice, tough as nails if ya get a good one.If you do it just get a complete L67 engine/trans.Only would I entertain the thought of the LS1(Im V8 at heart)if the engine had a low km cam ect setup for good money(3-4k engine, trans,ECU ect),this will take a while to pop up but does happen, just need the funds waiting to pounce. To obtain a stocky in their for close to 3k(thats v/generous quote) and to then have to modify it to be on par with a 10psi basic L67 would be a waste of money imo, just sell yours and go the VX SS if the V8 is wanted.
BlownV6,tell them the torque its putting out and what RPM,this should raise a few eyebrowes. The L67 is a ripper of an engine,60ft killers lol.
12psi is alright.
I've been doing some reading on them lately, and they seem to be great to a point. 250rwkw seems to be the line before they start getting expensive.
But that's heaps for a road car.
Hmm, can't remember the torque (tractive effort actually) would have to dig up the dyno sheet, CBF. It's got enough to haze the tyres all the way through 1st and 2nd gear though with a T5 and 3.55 gears (the tyres are 255 wide i might add).
Agree with you though soop, they are good cheap fun to a point, then it starts to get pretty expensive for little gain. Having said that though, up to that point makes for a pretty fun road car....
Oops, double post.
Two totally different animals.
The XR6 has 304rwkw,weighs nearly 1.9tonne,makes over 700rwnm and is very tractable due to the tune, tyres ect.My BA is good for 11.8 1/4's with heaps left in the combo, its only at 12lbs of boost. The turbo is good for 16-18lbs factory besides a little wastegate porting.A change to AR.70 will allow around 20lbs effectively. They have a 1.06 rear housing, lag is def there but a extra 500rpm over factory stall and a "good"tune will see this flyby rather quickly. The 60footers are 1.78 on semis, mph is 119.
My L67 has 150rwkw,weighs nearly 1.7tonne,makes 470rwnm and with LSD and any more than half throttle off idle will result in instant wheelspin going into 2nd and finally hooking up,I would need dewy roads to do this in the BA and the reason why I took the VX into the burnout comp at Gazzanats this year, under 3000rpm it has it all over the Ford and is only caught by around 80km /hr with the Ford rather flying past but. This is 150rwkwVS304rwkw,if 100 metre duals are your cup of tea then the L67 is the king in my book for a factory car Aussie built. The VX would have a 3rd of the money spent on the engine setup.
When my BA was stock tuned with boltons like the VX it made nearly 200rwkw at 4lbs and 440rwnm,the VX with the same treatment is far more agile and fun to drive, would leave it for dead.Ive managed to keep most parts on the VX good 2nd hand items and have acheived great bang for buck. The topend pull of the Ford though is pretty cool,it will go from 100-200 not much slower than 0-100 lol it just pulls very consistantly.
Basically if I had spent the amount of money on the VX as I have done the BA it would be making over 200rwkw and 800rwnm of torque at 40km/hr sooner I might add,the little m90 does an admirable job considering its capacity.Id say going by others power figures and cars this would put the VX at low 12's at 106-108mph with 1.6-7 60 footers, very well known by the tire shop and at the stage where the bang for buck goes away compared to the first 4k or so spent. The BA at this level will win handsdown at $$$ per horsepower gained there onwards.
I still prefer the beast in my link below though over all of them, the VH SLE that is.
^^^^^^^This was with 150rwkw a month or so ago and 225/50/16 tires, first is with exhaust and 2nd is without exhaust on.All done in 2nd and 3rd gear in a auto, wouldnt kickback to first because I forgot to carry out the 1st gear mod lol.^^^^^^^^
I took the BA out last year at 200rwkw and made half the smoke, not enough torque where it counts.TTT,Torque Turns Tires.Dont mind my family we dont get much tyre smoke action in Adelaide.
