victorian unregistered vehicle permit

Hi just bought a car in melb and its sold unreg and i wantto drive it back to qld.
Can anyone shed any light on the unregistered vehicle permits issued by vicroads.
How much wahts involved and can i get one to cover 3 days. went oin the website but it says call a number and its late saturday night.

you can get a permit for up to 30 days i think, to get a 1 day permit is around $40, it goes up a coupple of dollars for each extra day, i recently got one for 12 day and that cost $50

cost me 60ish to get one for 28 days. they charge you a base fee, then $1 per day or something.

not sure how you'll go driving it from vic to qld on a permit though.

I dont really know but im tippin ya will need a permit from each state ya go to as the go under different setups.

When you go in and ask for the permit you declare that you are driving to QLD and they will write that on the form and off you go, this way you will be covered by vicroads for the trip. But you can only drive during daylight hours, I think until 7pm?. It's pretty cheap 50-60 bucks or something like that

when i picked up my 1 tonner we got pulled over at around 8ish when it was just getting dark and they said ur suppoosed to stop driving by 8...
and we had a week one for like 50 odd bucks
u just need the color, the last known rego number, and the vin i think
