    Default temp sensor

how would u know if ur temp sensor is faulty.
my calais is saying its overheating with the warning chime, but i cant smell coolant burning or hear it boiling and it seems to run fine. Keeping in mind that the mechanic told me its says its running hotter than it really is after checking for something else with the computer... so maybe a faulty gauge...
would the temp sensor affect this?

seems like the thermo fan dont kick in till it tells me its overheating and i only replaced the thermostat 8 months ago...

    any ideas people?

Well the Temp sensors are cheap, they are about $16 from holden, they are just behind the alternator both for the ECU and Temp gage. No harm in just replacing them.

What!!The guy has told you to start by changing the temp sensor because they are cheap and could be the cause of the problem.Thats a good first step in my book.Jeez, what more do you want.Do you expect him to come around and fix it for you as well..

You asked for ideas and he gave you the correct one to fix your problem and you don't appreaciate it? Piss off and figure it out yourself then.
