A few years ago I got some lights I thought were pretty good from ebay, they were 60/100 but I don't recall the colour temp. Anyway they are horrible at best and twice as bad in the wet. They reflected signs and cat eyes from far but I couldn't see anything with them that was non reflective.
Its got to the point where I try my hardest not to drive at night any more or if me and friends are going somewhere and I know I'll be home late I'll just go with them to avoid driving back in the dark.
I have been reading as much info as possible about the brightest lights and colour temp and wattage ect.
Philips keeps coming up a lot when I look info on the best and brightest lights but at the same time I find a lot of miss-information. People saying higher wattage is better or higher colour temperature is better.
From my understanding 4300k is the pure white before it gradually turns blue, anything past 4300k the lights will appear brighter when viewed from the front but don't cast as much light on the road and for a shorter distance.
I don't care if my lights are yellow, I wouldn't care if they were any colour in the rainbow for that matter as long as I have good vision on the road and don't blind other drivers.
PHILIPS Power2Night +50% light 10-20m longer beam - 3200k, was rated 10/10 in a test of all major bulbs (although that was 3 years ago in 2007)
PHILIPS X-treme POWER +80% light 25m longer beam -3700k
PHILIPS Crystal Vision - 4300K
I have also found this but cant find any info about it. They only seem to be sold in Europe and are new as far as I can tell:
PHILIPS X-treme Vision +100% - 4000K
Those are the ones I am considering, although I see people talking bad about the crystal vision because of the blue tint that is only for cosmetic appearance and that it reduces the seeing distance. If 4300K is the brightest before blue comes in to the spectrum (from white to blue) would it still be brighter/further/clearer seeing distance than the other 2?
I don't want huge big lights that blind everyone that throw a short distance and only reflect off signs, just after something that will light up the road far ahead, even if its yellow I don't care.
If anyone with experience in the area or knows how all this stuff works (I don't) can steer me in the right direction, even if not these globes it will help a lot.
Thanks.
I would recomend PHILIPS X-treme POWER i bought them a few months ago off ebay from the uk on ebay for about $30.
PHILIPS EXTREME POWER H4 XTREME XENON BULBS PEUGEOT (eBay item 260689210208 end time 08-Dec-10 02:47:40 AEDST) : Vehicle Parts Accessories
my local autobarn was charging about $100.
Also im pretty sure you shouldnt go any higher than standard globes because it can melt your headlights.
Close, but no cigar. It's not recommended to go above the standard wattage. From memory, all of the Phillips/Narva globes still run the standard wattage, just kick out different light.
Standard H4s are 60/55w. If you go for a higher wattage globe like 100/90w, the extra current draw can overheat and melt your wiring. Some people have no problems, some people have.
Need a part number? PM me.

Yeah nothing wrong with the Phillips Xtreme Visions.
