    Default Painting front bar .

I was driving home last night from visiting my wife in hospital and i hit a fox at about 80 kays . It snapped one of the brackets on the front bar that screw onto the inner guard and another that clips to the guard near the headlight but other than that the bar is in one piece but the paint is another story.
The bar much have flexed so much that the paint between the headlight and grille , and just below the fog light has cracked and started to flake off . I have read a few threads about painting plastic parts but they all show different was and i'm getting confused . Can anyone tell me the right way to prepare and repaint the front bar please , Thanks in advance ,Dave

You could probably use a paint stripper suitable for plastic but I had bad results and it bubbled the plastic. Best way would be to get all the paint off but that's not a easy job.

Sand the whole thing back lightly and use a plastic primer over any plastic showing through, where it is cracked try to get off as much paint as possible and use a primer putty to fill the low spots, might need to be done a few times with sanding in between. Once its all even sand it smooth and give it a coat of primer then a few coats of paint.

I'm no pro but this is what I have done in the past, the paint never come off over the 4 years I had the car after that and always looked good.

Thanks for that , The paint won't be too hard to get off as it flakes off when you rub it . What would be the best glue to use to stick the clips back on with ?
