    Default Who knows superchargers?

Hey guys I'm in abit of a pickle with my supercharger on my vp commodore, it's a eaton m62 abit smaller than the ecotec m90, it should be running 8psi and 10psi with the new pulley I have put on, with both pulleys I cannot get above 6psi and have run out of things to think of except for the boost bypass valve? I havnt got it tuned yet but I wouldn't think a tune would make it go up 4psi, it does have a chip to richen it up abit and I have the thermos constanly on to run it cold and I run it on 98. Any suggestions?

    Check the simple things first.

Who said it should run 8 & 10 psi with your pulleys?

Then i'd check the actuation of the bypass valve, make sure it has full movement.

What sort of intakes do you have.

The bloke who I bought the kit from, he has 2 of them in he's play cars both with from memory 3 inch pulleys running 8 psi, and a member of this forum 'romez' just had the same kit fitted and he is getting 8psi, I have had a 2.7inch pulley made up and still only 6psi, I have a 5ltr 65ml throttle body.

What, if anything, is being used to control the bypass valve actuation? Originally, there would have been a PCM controlled solenoid valve that blocks manifold pressure, tapped downstream of the S/C, from reaching the bypass actuator diaphragm. If the solenoid valve is left unpowered the default position is for the by-pass valve to open as boost is generated, thus limiting boost pressure. A quick check would be to disconnect and plug the hose fom the pressure side of the actuator. (Watch the boost pressure as it will then be uncontrolled.)

(Forget the BOV idea it won't work as well as the factory by-pass valve.)

Ok cool I'll try that when I get home. So by the pressure side you mean the connection 'dick' coming out from the charger? Leaving the bypass valve not connected to anything?

So does this mean I need to change my boost bypass valve and plug it back up or just leave it blocked? Delcowizzard- I've got pacemakers, high flow cat and a 1 muffler 2.5inch system, I hope that's sufficient lol, I've got a couple of suggestions that think is restricting it, mainly my intake could be clean up on my right handle bend from the rear or the charger, port it a little bit, maybe a 70ml throttle bod. Then finish off my cold air intake and a tune.

If the charger is maxing out at 9ish would a smaller pulley make it boost up quicker as it only makes 8-9ish at high revs.

Delcowizzard, is my car somthing you can tune site unseen? I've had 2 people have a crack at it and no one 'sight unseen' can get it right, the best I can get it is one chip that pings on a hot day, while I am test driving it I have my thermos constantly on and am also running 98 + octane booster = no ping.
With the bodgy fuel our days I'd like it tuned on 95 and i will always run it on pulp.
Most of the chips I have overfuel on idle and run like a dog until it's boosting and the engine light always comes on while it boosts, suggestions? Cheers
