Anyone got a strong impact wrench? Need to remove towbar bolts....

As per title, has anyone here got a strong impact wrench with a 24mm attachment?

Or does anyone have a GIANT breaker bar they can lend for a few hours?

I am sure if you go to a tyre place or mechanic work shop they might be able to get it done with no hassle.
Failing that soak it in WD40 and leave it over night and try it the next day.

Haha yeah that's the next option - Just a little busy on weekends and there aren't many mechanics open on Saturdays.

Yeah I've drenched it in WD-40, I guess eventually it'll give way.

Is there any way of telling whether I've got a genuine holden towbar fitted?

Any 1/2 inch breaker bar with a metre of pipe on it should fix any 24mm nut i've come across

If you feel like a drive to the Coast I will happily undo them, My impact wrench will definitely get it off.

Cheers guys I'll just grab a a breaker bar and pipe from bunnings, do they sell short lengths of steel pipe?

And I think I have an older or non-genuine tow bar, as it's not the one with the square housing, it looks exactly like the one I had on my VX. Could be the 'Reece' bar I've read mentioned on this forum a few times.

if anyone ever wants a length of pipe to slide over a breaker bar I get heaps of secondhand pipe up to 6.5m long 3-4mm wall thickness normally offcuts are about 1m long. happy to give some to you.

Ahh cheers, that makes sense. And good to know I've only got the light duty one, which would be no doubt easier to remove.

Managed to get the bolts off, sh*tloads of inox and a 1/2 breaker bar as suggested worked a charm. They were rusted out to sh*ts though!

its not about the size of the soxket head, its the leverage thats imporant.

You could have got it off with a 24mm 3/8's socket if you had the right extension on it. As suggested, the 1+ meter pipe handle is the key to this.
