hey
ive just lost my license for 12 months and its made me learn my lesson, stupid way to learn i know blah blah.
ive been told to take it top the track etc and im all for doing it legaly now but seeing as i dont have a license for the next 12 months ive been told by some people that i wont be able to get on a track or get a racing license?
is this true?
i have no idea where to start on getting a racing license either.
im planning on selling my current commodore and buying a more specific car to race(not sure what yet) and dad will help me out in getting around to events etc.
anyone that has any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.
cheers
CAMS - Competitor Licensing - What licence do I need?
Buy an early commodore and slot a V8 into it, cheapest way to go fast.
thats true soop. There was a guy on here (i think) that had a yellow vk and built it for hillclimbs and stuff and he was pretty succesful
Fuggin fanboys...
308 costs $4. Bolts right in fires up.
L67 does not. Not even close.
Power out put is the same, get over it.

What do you mean runs on the board?
We're talking about doing it cheap.
An L67 conversion is NOT cheap. Nor overly easy in comparison to slotting a carbied black motor into a VH or something.
What do you mean runs on the board?
It means that I regularly compete with my car, so I have runs on the board, not some arm chair expert dishing out nonsensical diatribe.

No, YOU were trying to suggest a cheap option.
You can buy a later commodore VN to VS cheaper than what you can an early one.
To be honest, if he wants to go fast, go Japanese, it would be a far more sensible way to go.

What, have you done a few L67 conversions, do you know how hard it is or how much it costs.??
An L67 conversion is no hard task buy any means.

No I've done a few 5ltr conversions though.
EFI conversion is hard enough into a car that came with it. let alone one that didn't. It doesn't have to be technically difficult to be a prick of a job, in comparison to bolting a carbied motor in.
L67 cost more then a carb'd 5ltr, I'll guarantee you that.
Played with jap cars too, you need deep pockets.
If you're not bothered about a pretty looking shell, its very easy to get a VB/VH for under $500 (hell even check the wreckers.)
i havent planned on cars yet, ill be starting to look into that soonish
Never mind us :P
Hypotheticals are always fun.

The junior license holders don't obviously have to have a civil license, so they are covered under the CAMS insurance, I am not quite sure how AASA deal with junior drivers.

To clear things up, I just had a chat to CAMS to clarify the license requirements.
You can still compete at events where no public roads are used, eg rallies and so forth.
The orginiser of the event can also knock you back at their discretion if they like, (unlikely)
Normal track days are not a problem for CAMS.

Its amazing how things are done differently from state to state, just about every entry form I have filled out requires a civil license number and they ask for your license as well as your CAMS license and log book if you have one and CTP depending on class and event.
Seeing some of the stupid classes I get put in when doing CAMS events, it doesn't surprise me that different events, states have different requirements.
Sounds like you get around a bit, what are you running?

Nothing at the moment, trying to sort out a deal on a car for improved production. Before that was running in a VN Saloon car and HQ race car. When budget allows, its great fun to go interstate and run with another group of cars to see how each state it performing and whether they have the edge when it comes nationals time.
