I'll take a squiz when I get on the computer. Sound pretty awesome though
wow thats so cool!
It'll be great in a straight line no doubt. What's the weight difference between that and the 3.6ltr six thats normally in them?
I would hate to think how much that hurts the weight balance too!
Gotta ask why, they're an awesome car as is.
the old engine caught fire..
sat in garage for 2 years 'donk-less'
then put in LS1
Ah well that makes sense then.
probably 10% the cost.
weights of motors with everthing bolted on except trans
2003 Porsche 996 , Porsche M96/05 ,3.6L DOHC H6 ,315 ,203kg
2001 Chevy Corvette , GM LS1 ,5.7L OHV V8 ,350 ,225kg manual 208kg auto
going to be a few kg difference with the addition of new mounts, different flywheel, adapter plate for gearbox, etc. but im sure it wouldnt take much to dial the handling back in.
Hmm, fair enough then.
Wonder if the center of gravity is much different. (Isn't that the whole point of the flat 6?)
Not trying to pick shit, genuinely interested.
ls1s are fairly short anyway, plastic intake up top, reduces weight, trans is in same spot as original, but moved forward 2"
need to find a pic of the 3.6 mated to the trans from side on, and compare it to the pic in the thread of the ls1 mated to trans, see if the ls1 sits much higher, obviously some change, heads up higher, but the heavier exhaust manifolds still sit nice and low.
In light of all that, it'd probably go pretty well!
