Hey guys i'm new here and wasn't really sure if i could post this thread as it's a Statesman issue but thought i'd give it a go anyway, hoping someone could help me out.
I have a series 2 VQ Statesman and my problem is when the cars left out in the sun on a pretty hot day the car won't start, it'll turn over fine but that's about all that happens.
This has happened a few times now and the only way it'll start is when the weather cools down early in the evening and bingo it starts straight away.
I've had a mechanic look at it a few times and he's tried changing the distributor and coil as he seemed to think it was an electrical fault but the same thing happened with the new parts in.
If anyone's ever had a similar problem or could point me in the right direction it'd be appreciated as nobody seems to be able to find the problem.
Cheers
Hey mate, have you checked your ignitor module. I know that these can start to play up a bit, particulary if there warm or when the engine's warmed up, so it might be related.
If you've already gone to the trouble of replacing the dizzy and coil, then I would replace that as well.
I would normally start with the leads, make sure you have spark, and then work backwards from there. Oh and maybe check and replace you leads as well, but my bet is with the ignitor module.
