what i ask is. how come most ppl selling 2nd hand bolt ons such as superchargers or turbos always state "its only been on car 3 months" "its only done 2000kms" etc
does this mean it was a crap idea and they dont like it or are they just lieing to make it look newer because you cannot actually tell
i know it really depends on each individual seller
but i have never seen "turbo kit done 50,000kms"
or anything like that.
just wondering if anybody here has noticed the same thing or has actually sold one like this be it genuine or not
I know of a few people who loved the idea of having forced induction on their cars (but never having been in one or driven one). They spent the dollars, drove it, then decided it wasn't what they thought it was going to be, whether it be too much power, not suited to their driving style or just plain couldn't really afford to do it in the first place.
I reckon it's because many cars that are modified to that point don't get driven much.
i.e. a car can be off the road for 6 months while the kit is being fitted, then it might only get to do your occasional Sunday drive... Which only adds up to about 2,000km a year
And by the time you've driven a project car for a year, it's time to upgrade the package![]()
I'd agree. A lot of those things would be used on projects and 'toys' not daily drivers, so you could have it on your car for like 2 years and still only have done 2000km with it coz u may only drive it 3 times a month or something.
As wikky stated, some people buy/install these things and they are not what they are cracked up to be.
You'll find most of the time that people will buy an XYZ kit, have it installed and then decide its not enough and go for the upgraded ABC kit instead.
Been there, done that. Its human nature
yep my mate spent 8 grand on mods and now doesnt drive it. it used to be his daily driver, seems like a waste
ahh i see i didnt think of it in the way of once a month drive and sell the project car once it is complete because that wasnt what i thought i would have done.
thanks for clearing the air everybody.
I still think there would be people that lie.
