I'm about to do a deal with the guy who owns a QLD rego, while I'm in VIC and want to get a victoria
plate. The guy says that he won't be providing RWC but will transfer the rego at vicroads, yet as far as I
know, interstate rego transfer requires a whole new RWC. Now I'm confused. Do I have the wrong idea
or what? Please answer me![]()
May and may not help
When I purchased a car from QLD I went to QLD motor registry and got the car transferred into my name and NSW address
When you buy a car in QLD the seller needs to provide a RWC with sale of car
When I got back to NSW I got a blue slip and then went to NSW motor registry and got new plates etc
The fact that he has sold the car and you are transferring it into your name will mean it will have to have a Victorian RWC. If he was just moving to Victoria permanently and wanted to put Victorian Rego on it is a different situation, as it is still in his name, but the fact it is changing owners it is like any other sale and requires a Victorian RWC to be able to tranfer it into your name. That's the way I understand it, give Vic Roads a call, but I am pretty sure that is how it works.
