Vr v8?????

HELP! My VR V8 Statesman has all the symptons of the crank angle sensor needing to be changed but after reading so many forums for hours i have just discovered that there is no such thing in a V8 so now im back to square one of trying to understand the process of elimination to solve my problems which are, Car stalls when gets hot and cant be started until cooled down has happened to me about 8 times in the last 5 days, car lost all power while cruising at 70km and same again started after about 10min before this happened i noticed i was idoling at irregular rev's at times and after it happens it is not so responsive PLEASE PLEASE help me someone it's my first V8 and dont wanna get ripped by taking it to a mechanic without some idea of whats wrong and what it should cost.

I dont know if v8s r different to V6's .. But that sounds like the crank sensor.. Have you done an error test?

Try getting hold of someone elses ignition module and swap it with your one as a test, sounds like it could be the problem.

sounds more like the coil is on the way out, i had the same prob with a vs 5ltr yrs ago

also check your earth leads. i had a loose battery to engine earth a while ago, very similar symptoms to what u described.
