Im looking at buying some wheels from the USA but the quote on shipping was about as expencive as the wheels them self.
Does anyone know how/where to get cheap shipping from USA to Australia?
Ive got a quote so far of $340 by air, I asked him if he can check if its any cheaper to send them by sea. He will look in to it but still its pretty expensive.
cant you get a wheel shop like wheel worx etc to get them in for you ? saves you paying the shipping fees? surely theirs a wheel place that can get that style for you?
yea....give us all a look at these wheelsif they cant be bought here in aus they must be pretty unique. custom jobby?

could always put an add out there to share a container with a group of people wishing to import items to keep the cost down
Yeah custom wheels, been talking to this bloke in the USA for a while about it.

Prices are there but I need to pay a extra $10 for "non standard bolt pattern"
and they make them to suit your offset too?

Easier said than done, I dont know anyone brining over 40 foot containers from USA and I'm not going to be searching for some random person to be responsible for receiving my wheels in USA then loading them on to the container then unloading in Aus then putting them on a courier and sending to me. Too easy for things to go wrong.
The guy I am buying them from got the price of shipping down to $195 for the set, thats a very good price from the first quote he gave me of $340.
Im going to ask if I can order 2 for for half the quoted shipping price just to check fitments ect then order the other 2 when I am happy with it.
lol, so you know the guy that you're buying the wheels from personally? It's the same thing isn't it?
Regardless, we've done that in the past without problems.
People like you are the reason lots of sellers won't post to AUS. It's not a freaking charity, and getting two send over first..............
Also why pay for a set of stockies sent over? That's all they look like.

I have no idea what you are talking about, I asked if he can find cheaper postage and he was happy to help and offer me a saving of $145, I'm sure if any other customers order from Australia again he will use the same service to save them money. It may not be much to you but it is to me and I am sure he understands that or else I wouldn't have asked if I had money to throw around.
Business is about taking care of the customer and giving them what they want, he is very helpful. And me as a buyer, his services meet my requirements so I will be happy to do business with him.
As for why pay for stockies to be sent over.. I have contacted just about every major wheel manufacture, custom wheel makers, tyre and wheel shop, searched daily on ebay and google, even asked our forum sponsor The Wheel Deal and none of them make or can find 15x8 rims.
The only half positive one is a place that told me to buy 15x8 ROH Sunraysia style rims for $50 each and bring in my Commodore rims and they will reband them for $215 each. Thats a total of $1060 for 4 old rims that have been cut and welded plus I would have to cut up my perfectly good 15x7 interceptors or $515 for new rims from over seas.
As for sending 2 over first, I could pay for all to be sent at the same time leaving me short of money and if they don't fit then I am out of pocket over $500 instead of $250ish, I don't earn a lot and money is tight. But that shouldn't mean I cant buy things that will make me happy, he is still getting the same money in his pocket and the same amount of work.
Saving $145 is a good outcome, not only for me because its cheaper but also for him as it may have changed my decision to buy from him.
Good for you bloke, at least you have a plan.
In future you can try shipping brokers, as these guy bring in shared containers all the time and they dont need to be in your state. In WA I use a company called Bullock Hodgekiss Customs Brokers BULLOCKS FREIGHTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL | australian transport, cargo transport, shipping perth , sea freight, air freignt, container, customs, broker
Just remember that air freight is always going to be expensive but fast, ocean freight is a lot cheaper but will take around 6 weeks.
Just keep in mind your cheaper freight, if by sea, your looking at around a 2 month wait on your goods.
As for wheels I had a set of 15x8 stockies made up for $140ea, new 8" outers with the centre welded in, any offset you want. As far as I know Jax quickfit can also get them made up from the research I did.
