No, no superchargers allowed. Also there is no such thing as a SS 3.8L, it might be a 'S' but not a 'SS', because a SS is a 5.7L V8.

Yes, you can drive a Ferrari on your L's if you want. When you hit your P's you won't be able to though.

OK my bad you can drive whatever on your L's, but not on your P's. Thats kind of silly isn't it?? 80km/h speed limit kind of sucks though.

Sure can but have a another Ecotech ready to put in just before you get your P's otherwise you will be waiting for another 3months before you can drive again

L's is now 100klm apparently in SA used to be 80.

I find this a failed exapmle of these restrictions rules, plenty of stock legal commodores that beat it powerwise.

the speed limit restriction in Nsw would be dangerous, and frustrating. would be better to be able to drive to all conditions, and so on.

ring up the RTA or whatever the vicroads equivalent is in NSW. ask if it is possible to get an exemption to drive one.
or go on the site, or see them in person. probably best to find out rather then assume.
in vic its possible to get one if its the "family car" or "work car" so you might be able to get away with it if you can get the exemption.

Incorrect. Super 6 was a factory option on VT SSs
There was also VP SS V6s (but only went to NZ i think)

Early VT SS's were 5L Holden engines. Not sure where they changed to the 5.7L

Stealthy is on the money, though not sure if all the VP's went to NZ.

no petrol engine 7 or more cylinders, turbo charged or supercharged
    no restriction on diesel engines.
no vehicle with modifications that enhance the engine performance that require an engineers certificate.

on your learners you are the repsonsibility of the full licenced driver so no vehicle restrictions.

on another note i have also heard rumours of factory produced vs gts with the 5.7

and as far as vt they wwnt 5.7 in the ss in series 2 (mid 1999)

To sum up, yes a nsw learner can drive anything as they are 'supervised' so yes you can drive your ss on your l's with no dramas. However, once on your p's, this will be classed as a performance restricted vehicle and you will no longer be able to legally drive it. Exemptions to drive such a car on your p's can be granted in certain circumstances, however, purchasing the car after the imposition of these laws won't cut it.
If its a nice car why not swap the L67 for a standard V6 untill you're off your p's?
As for people questioning the authenticity of a genuine VT SS L67, Stealthy is correct. Yes they exist and there's a few of them getting around. By far not as common as the 5 litre or later gen3, but yes they exist from factory. Your VIN build plate on the passenger side top radiator support (above headlight) should say "L67" for engine.

Keeny: yes a factory 5.7 does exist in a vs. Its not a gen 3 though. It's a stroked 5 litre with a harrop crank. Fitted in the vs gtsr and also some of the later enhanced senators I believe (though don't quote me on the senator part)

Lol i'd probably say that to piss it off aswell. I wouldn't buy a super6 SS, unless i was wrecking it and putting the motor in something else haha

    i live in nsw,
L's - you can drive whatever you own/want
red & green P's - nothing more than a v6. no turbo's, superchargers, v8's yadda yadda. unless you have a damn good excuse that you dotn have access to a car thats not turbo or v8 etc. i know that a kid i used to work with got an exemption from rta or something that he could drive an ss on his p's only to and from work on one route only and if he got caught on any other road he lost it haha
