Hey i really want to replace my parkers with something like these Commodore Parker HID LED Lights for HSV HDT VT VX VY VZ (eBay item 170563260259 end time 06-Feb-11 03:28:48 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats
They look like this if you too lazy to click the link
Anyways they called super bright white however they have quite a blue tinge i reckon... do you think the cops would bust a p plater for them and if so what would happen... not really too knowledgable in this stuff yet is a defect a fine too and do you have to get a rwc again??
in qld you get away with these for
no plate lights and front parkers but NOT for headlights supposedly but im yet to be pulled up for it~!
i have some white globes in my parkers and rear plate light and havent had a problem
Hmm alright thanks but those dont really look that white they have a kinda bluish tinge dont you think?
As mentioned in this post Ask The Copper parkers which aren't white are defectable. Not sure if it will be a minor or major defect, a major will require you to get a RWC before the defect can be cleared.
Check out my VR!

its all in the camera like the photo i have attached is a white led parker (looks brighter because the photo is a exposure shot)
im glad you posted that picture, was to lazy to click
as for the legal part, chances of getting done for something like that are slim to none. Driving without parkers on during the day will help the cause.
If its visibly blue when viewed from directly ahead they can give you a defect, white is ok but having said that I have had blue parkers on one of my cars for 2-3 years and never had trouble because of them.
i have white led parkers and license plate lights and havent had an issue with the police...and i drive around with parkers on all the time...goes well with my big green p plate![]()
Parkers must clear and not dazzle other road users. White LED parkers are fine, start using blue filters, blue LED's or coloured globes and you're on your way to a defect if the cop is in a bad mood and/or can't get you for anything else.
there are plenty of people that use coloured parkers (F#&K knows why) and get away with it...
For what it's worth, as someone who does a lot of highway driving, I reckon the LED parking lights are significantly inferior as a means to make your car visible to others. The primary reason is that LEDs are directional and without light coming from all around the globe onto the reflector, the impact is minimal. (That's why DRLs are a string of LEDs in a row to make them more of an impact). Besides, you'd be surprised how well a 5W wedge globe can light up a reflector headlamp assembly. As for blue LED parkers, they're the worst for visibility (the total Lux output is hopeless) and they fail the ADR requirements for 'white light output'. You will eventually get a defect for them as they do not comply with Aust. design rules. The number of cars I see going along highways in low light (eg dusk) with just blue LEDs on is scary. As their dash is illuminated, the driver often doesn't realise they haven't got their low beams on. And if the blue LEDs are the only thing that helps me see you before I move into your path.... well you know how that ends. ADRs are there for a reason - comply and you'll be making your ride safe for your own sake if no-one else.
I don't like them. Their illegal and will get you a defect in Victoria.
The only colours that are allowed on the front of your car apart from white are blue and green and are only legal when your stationary. Red is associated with braking and must be rearward facing, purple/yellow are fully illegal, and so are most others. That being said you have to be pretty unlucky to get done for them ( blue or green) and if you do its usually just a warning.
