Default VE Bee Sting Type Arials...?

    Hi Guys,

I am looking for a Bee Sting style arial for my series 2 SV6 Ute.
The standard arial is too tall to fit under my garage... I know, its a low garage...!

Just wondering if anyone could recomend any that I should look and where to buy?
I dont want to loose any reception if possible.

    Pics would be great too!

    Cheers, Cory

Yeah I got one recently as well and was unsure how reception would go. So had radio on the whole time while I switched them over. There was no difference between the original then no aerial at all then with the stubby one. I thought that was pretty funny.
Though last time I was out woop woop I had no reception with it.

    Still about 2-3 weeks away...
Ill let you know when I get one though!

I do like the look of those shark fin arials.
Just wondered how much work is envolved in fitting them?
The bee sting's are so easy to install.

You'll find AM reception will suffer especially once you get out of town. AM reception is dependent on the length of the antenna and shorter antennas don't work as well as a longer mast. That's if you even listen to AM... :P

    Ok Guys,

I picked up my Ute and received my arial in the mail the same day.

No reception loss that I can tell. And I think it looks good.

I really needed to change my arial beacuse I have a low garage under my house and the original arial didnt fit under...

    Hope this helps everyone!

Huge improvement. I hate the big "remote control car" type factory aerials!

I changed mine a while ago for a Mazda CX9 aerial. Best $24 I ever spent! Suzuki Swift aerials and a few other makes/models will also fit.

Does this still allow blutooth from your phone to work through the car speakers etc..? It will still pickup phone reception right?

I didn't think the aerial had anything to do with bluetooth?

...Anyway, my bluetooth still works fine with my short aerial.

here's a question about the reception. Does the GPS run off the aerial?

if so i wana make sure theres no lose in reception at all, especially when off the beaten track!

Bluetooth is only the interface that connects your cellphone to the car stereo, the cell phone still uses its own aerial to get signal so therefore the cars aerial will not change anything.

GPS is a different interface and does not use the cars aerial (gps aerials are normally square and near the windscren)

yes but the IQ system on the ve ii runs the radio and gps in the same unit, and that rear aerial is the only one on the car, so would it run through that, or still nah?

Yes I know the whole IQ system jazz, it does not run GPS through the aerial it is a seperate aerial, just because you cannot see the gps aerial doesn't mean its not there.
