Default Just bought contaminated fuel (WA)

    Gday,

So I'm pretty certain I have contaminated fuel. I bought about 20L (PULP) from the BP on Orrong Rd a couple of days ago.
Yesterday I noticed the tail pipe had white powdery residue inside and sort of wondered about it for a second (had no clue at the time)
Today, while driving along the car was pinging a little more than usual. Then I got the check engine light, found code 13 - O2 sensor
This got me thinking why it failed and I put 2 and 2 together. Bingo! Bad fuel.

Its still drives ok, so thankfully it's not too buggered. What's the go now? Drain the tank? Anything else to look out for?

    Cheers

fresh fuel, might also be worth changing your fuel filter(who knows what was in the fuel). other then that id say it will be fine.

what kind of fuel was it? ethanol?

    Drain the tank.
I've never had bad fuel leave white residue all through the exhaust, that can't be good for the rest of the motor.

You might want to drop into a subaru dealership and pick up a can of upper cylinder head cleaner. You spray it into the manifold and let it sit for a few minutes to decrease and decarbonise the manifold and cylinder heads. No doubt that fuel as left shit all through the motor if it made it through to the exhaust.

Fuel was premium 95. Could the car burning oil do this as well? I'm thinking not since mine's been using oil ever since I got it.

Oil usage is normal (within reason).
If a motor doesn't use some oil something is wrong.
