just bought a boat and the paint is a bit shabby on it. think the boat is like over 30 yrs old. i was wondering what i should do and what paint should i use. i dont want it to be perfect, so id rather not do a bare metal sandback.
cheers,

depends what paint it was last painted with most likely some form of marine paint suck as epiglass
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
industrial enamel would work too
mabey just look around at any local boat building shops and talk to them, they would know what to use and how to do it and if your lucky they might have some left over supplies from a big job you could pick up for extra cheap
Dude that boat is in great condition for its age. I reckon you are right and it is at least 30 years old. I suggest you do absolutely nothing to the paint. Just give it a hose out and clean ALL dirt, hooks sinkers swivels out of the channels in the hull and just go fishing. Many people who paint boats do a worse job than what they started with. Any salt left between the old paint and the new causes ugly blisters and ruins it.
Is it a Clark ? You will probably find a date stamp behind the rear seat somewhere or in the back corner
its a dehavilland of some sort. and i think i saw 1976 or so stamped on it.
