    Default Car Hoists

Guys, Anyone know of a good hoist to get to have in a garage? I want something better to use than jacks and stands.

I have no idea but I just had a look at ebay, crap ones for about $1000 and decent ones starting at $3000 or so.

I would try and find a 2nd hand one in good order but I guess they would be hard to come by.

There are a number of different places you can get them from. Ebay being one. Just make sure you pay attention to what sort of power supply the unit needs. Also slab thickness and preparation where it's going to be installed.

At a rough estimate, i'd have $6,000 set aside for the entire project.

i have a molnar 2 poster at home, i think its rated to 3 tonne or something. has the bump in the floor. its great, about 15 years old now and never given any trouble.

the slab its bolted to is quite thick though, cant remember how thick.

As noted above, Molnar hoists are great. Be careful to ensure you get the right model though as most of them require 3 phase power however you are able to get 240v models also. Slab thickness is recommended to be 6" minimum thickness with twin steel reo enforcements throughout.
