Melbourne
Does anyone have any comments or experience with this company.
Im from Adelaide and just called them in relation to a couple cars they have.
Sure the prices seem good, I wouldnt say too good to be true as I think theyre reflective of the mileage theyve done.
Im after a black VE Calais around $20k, preferably under.
I'd fly over and drive one back but a big decision when im not confident/sure about the company.
The sales pitch from them was theyre so big theyre able to source cars from all over, they move cars quickly and are more of a wholesale yard than generic retail.
Is this a worthwhile place to do business with. Im after a VE thats about 3 years old just out of warranty as I figure the chances of it being a lemon or having issues would be minimal.
Make sure there not coming from Queensland.
Insurance write offs have already reached Adelaide, just bought a VE Calais myself and i was really skeptical of the example's I found at clearing yards for 'amazing prices'.
Best of luck.
I had a look there late last year, I never bought anything. I told them what I wanted (80 series Landcruiser), after being asked if it was a 4wd, they took me to the other end of the yard to show me 2007-2008 Prado's and Range rovers, I was a little disappointed that they didnt know there cars.
Cars seem decent, but from memory there is an advertised price, + extras, it didnt work out all that cheap IMO.
They are cheap. Usually because they have a heap of KM on them. You get what you pay for - hit and miss as far as quality is concerned. Watch for cars that have been swimming. I have found my last 3 cars there several weeks after I traded them

Get an unregistered permit. You can drive it home and to/from the mechanic for the purposes of a road worthy + to vicroads to get reg.

My dad and Myself had a look at that place for my first car, didn't really trust it. But they were cheaper side of things..
I bought my vz from them. I have nothing to complain about, car hasn't missed a beat and was in great condition when i bought it for a good price. One thing to note is that alot of them are ex fleet cars which wasn't a real worry for me plus that means they always get serviced on time.
My understanding of their pricing is that whatever they pay for it they add there margin ontop of that and thats the price you pay. I was a little confused as to why there was such a price differnce between cars of the same make/year/km and condition and that was the explanation I was given.
i went there before i bought from a holden dealer, everyone i have spoken to says that the cars there are the cars the holden dealers dont want.
My son bought a an 06 VZ acclain last year 124000 on the clock and paid 12300 drive away registered and roady, Had one issue which they paid to have fixed that was a dicky O2 sensor
My mate bought a 2003 VY S from that joint, hasn't had one problem, in fact, the car is absolutely beautiful.
My dad also bought a 2003 Pajero from there which didn't miss a beat.
So, in my personal experience the cars i have been affiliated with there seem to do what they were built to do quite well.
That being said, buying a car privately or from a dealership is a real gamble, i think you should be inspecting the car on the car alone, not on the principle of the dealership.
Those cars look decent, ex fleet like any other type of car needs some caution but there would be heaps of good cars there, dont get one with burnt rubber under the guards or any signs of being fanged.
Its pretty easy to find 07 VE's with under 100 K on them for under 15 grand from those places. You can't go too far wrong with those if its been driven properly. I'd check out grays and compare before i bought one though. Might be hard to find a black calais from those joints, they generally have the more garden variety drones.
Actually mate, the VY S was an ex company car from telstra.
Seems to be fine.
As i said before, inspect the car on itself alone and not the dealership.
But as greenacc said, auctions are always a good start for stock ve's and what not.
