how do i go about extending my exhaust tip..?

okay so on my list of things for my roadworthy, there is "exhaust tip to be extended out past rear spoiler" how do i go about doing this..? does anyone have any suggestions? i'd assume (if it's legal..) that i'd just cut a section out, probably just before the tip, and put the same size peice of pipe in, but the length i need to extend it enough, weld it all up.. would this pass a roadworthy..? alright sweet, thanks soop much appreciated mate. was reaallly hoping i wouldn't have to replace the exhaust, i'm rather happy with the one i have. :P
